Saved stops and preferences
Saved stops, comparison selections and connector preferences are stored in your browser on this device. They are not synced to an account or sent to a ChargingStops database. Another browser or device will have a separate list. Clearing this site’s browser data removes the stored selections.
You can remove a stop using its Save button or the Saved stops page. Browser privacy settings may prevent storage; in that case local saves may not persist.
Location and searches
Choosing “Near me” first explains the location request, then asks for your browser’s permission. If allowed, your coordinates are sent to ChargingStops in the body of a search request to calculate straight-line distances nationwide. They are kept out of the page URL and browser local storage. The application uses them for that query and does not save them to the catalogue, corrections database or analytics. Application request logging is disabled.
You can search by place or station without granting location access. Your browser controls permission and lets you revoke it. No third-party geocoder receives your search location through this feature.
Search and filter choices may appear in a page URL so you can return to that view. Treat a shared URL as visible to its recipient. Search requests are processed by ChargingStops’ hosting service, which receives ordinary connection information such as an IP address. Location searches send coordinates in the request body rather than a shareable URL.
Maps and directions
When a map is displayed, it requests map tiles from OpenStreetMap’s service. The map can load automatically when its panel becomes visible on desktop or mobile. Use “Hide map” to hide the panel. That provider receives ordinary connection data such as your IP address and the site’s referrer, as well as the tiles requested for the area you view. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy.
Directions links open Google Maps with the charging stop’s destination coordinates. Google handles that visit under its own privacy policy. Your browser or map app may separately ask to use your starting location.
Factual corrections
The correction form asks for a listed stop, correction category, description and optional evidence link. It does not ask for your name or email address. Please leave out private information and details about other people.
Online collection is optional and disabled until the report service is configured. When enabled, a successful submission stores the report content, a report ID, submission time and review status in the site’s corrections database. Reports are pending review and are not automatically published. A rate limiter uses the connection’s IP address temporarily to help prevent abuse; the application does not store that address with the report.
If the service is unavailable, the form tells you that the report was not submitted. Downloading a copy saves a file on your device; it does not send the report to us. Do not treat a downloaded draft as a received correction.
Advertising and measurement
Reserved advertising space is not an active advertisement. No advertising account, behavioral tracking script or third-party analytics service is activated in this release. Any later integration needs its own configuration and an updated explanation here.
Control stays with your browser
Use your browser’s site settings to clear local storage and revoke location permission. Read the data methodology for how public charging records and source evidence are handled.
