Can I enter? How do I pay?

Answer both before setting off. A suitable connection can still sit inside a guest-only garage, and an energy price can leave out parking.

First, read the access line.

Public access

Read the charging hours and arrival note. Public access does not establish network eligibility or open indoor amenities.

Guests or customers only

Confirm that your visit meets the host’s condition. A matching connector does not grant entry.

Restricted or unknown

Read the literal source condition. If permission is unclear, confirm with the venue before relying on this stop.

Why are there separate charging and venue hours?

They answer different questions. At Colorado Mills, the charging inventory and the mall’s indoor facilities have separate schedules. At REI Denver, a shopping visit follows the store’s hours even if the charging record lists longer access.

Restroom hours can differ again. The Golden guide labels Parfet Park restrooms as a separate nearby destination.

Then, check the whole price.

One stop can have more than one charge. Read each applicable term before starting.
Charging

Energy, time or session charges in the operator’s tariff.

Parking & entry

Garage fees, admission or a required customer stay.

Extra conditions

Idle or overstay fees, taxes and plan-specific terms.

These are possible components, not charges that apply everywhere. An unknown component prevents a reliable total comparison.

ChargingStops keeps dated tariff wording when the source cannot support a fair comparison. A blank tariff is unknown. A free-charging statement does not establish free parking.

For a concrete example, Boulder’s official EV page says garage parking charges are additional to charging. The Pearl Street charging guide keeps these separate rather than estimating a combined total. City of Boulder source.

Payment varies by operator and site.

These are network-level examples. They do not confirm a particular charger’s working card reader or your account’s eligibility.

Electrify America: guest card payment and current pricing

Electrify America describes credit or debit card payment at the charger for guests, and app-based payment for members. The applicable price depends on the location and plan; some locations use time-of-use pricing. The charger screen or operator app shows current session pricing, including applicable idle-fee information.

ChargePoint: account and roaming payment options

ChargePoint describes account payment using a card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or PayPal, plus supported roaming apps and cards. Do not assume every host offers the same payment hardware or price. Check the actual station details in the network’s service.

Tesla: confirm the site and vehicle first

Tesla distinguishes access categories for other EVs and directs drivers to its app for supported locations and payment. A NACS connector label alone is not confirmation that your vehicle can use a particular Supercharger. Follow the operator’s current eligibility and approved-adapter guidance.

At the stop, make three final checks.

  1. You are at the intended installation. Match the network, signs and charging configuration. Several networks can share one destination address.
  2. You accept the current terms. Read the charger price and any parking or entry conditions. Inventory tariff text may be older.
  3. The session has started. Confirm the operator’s session status before leaving for food or shopping, and check when you need to return.
